GMT Marine Agent Job Description
- Coordinate reservations (Domestic and International) for all Marine/Offshore/Cruise/Yacht or Corporate accounts.
- Answer incoming calls from domestic and international clients. Communication skills must include email, phone, fax and telex.
- Confirm hotel, car, train reservations when requested. Depending on itinerary, inform clients of special travel requirements (ie: entry visas, etc.).
- Handle the pricing of all reservations. (NOTE: Marine reservations are often complex international reservations with several carriers and fare structures involved. Agents are responsible for accurately constructing combinations of published and net fares. Often fares are constructed using multiple net fares and contracts. Many reservations require the agent to “shop” the reservation through our partner offices worldwide. Time zones, local holidays and different cultures must be observed to properly trade with foreign partners. After fares are constructed, agent is responsible for advising clients of routing and fare.
- Must have prior experience with using the Amadeus Computer Reservation System.
- Manage total quality control on each reservation built by agent. Standards must be maintained both in use of marine contracts and issuing documents. Agents are responsible for verifying eligibility of marine personnel in accordance with our net fare contracts.
- Acquire knowledge of the maritime industry as well as maintaining complete knowledge of the travel industry. Knowledge of immigration procedures worldwide is also required.
- Handle all ticketing, ticket assembly and delivery of ticket.
- When prepaids are required, agents are responsible for verifying fare and taxes, entering the MCO into Amadeus, phoning in prepaid to airlines, filling out documents and invoicing records.
- Follow all Office Procedures including building passenger profiles.
- Assist and answer questions from all GMT team members
- Maintain queues (clearing queues on a daily basis to ensure all reservations are ticketed accordingly)
- Deliver all service standards as set by GMT management
- Coordinate all documentation standards as set by GMT management
- Meet productivity standards as set by GMT management
