GMT Global Marine Travel has been named for the first time in Travel Weekly’s 2019 Power List which recognizes the top 54 travel agencies in the US with $100 million or more in travel sales.
Travel Weekly is the travel industry’s leading trade press – providing news, analysis and features on the people, products and issues facing the travel industry.
GMT, which is ranked #47 on the list, was acquired by V.Group in February this year, transporting safely and economically over 300,000 maritime personnel around the world each year, providing a globally coordinated and comprehensive travel management service to marine customers, cruise lines and cruise line consolidators.
Tim Davey, Managing Director for GMT, said: ”This success is a clear sign that the merger and introduction of GMT into V.Group is gaining real traction.
“This is the first time that GMT has cracked the 2019 Power List and the success has already attracted new clients to use our services.”
In addition to the crew, commercial, offshore, technical, superyacht and marine support sectors, GMT caters to the leisure market by providing exclusive access to special air/sea fares to several Travel Management Companies, Cruise Lines, and Cruise Consortia through many different platforms, interfaces, and booking processes via API, or through a standalone web-based product, CruiseLink, which has become an industry standard in selling airfare.
Mark Fabiszewski, Manager of the Air/Sea Department said, “I'm proud to see GMT on Travel Weekly's 2019 Power List along with several of our fantastic partners who've helped us achieve this incredible goal.”
Making the Travel Weekly Power List this year validates the company’s strategy moving forward to analyze, plan and invest in the development of digital technologies that will streamline and enhance the overall seafarer experience through proprietary end-to-end travel solutions which will improve client operating efficiencies and reduce costs.
Looking ahead, there are several new acquisitions expected later this year from GMT, therefore increasing sales volumes and Power List rankings leading into 2020.
