GMT and Qatar the World’s Best Airline for 2021 Celebrate with Cruise Line Executive Dinner
29th September 2021
On Tuesday, September 28th, 2021, GMT – Global Marine Travel and Qatar Airways hosted a joint client appreciation dinner at Smith & Wollensky in Miami Beach, strategically set during the highly anticipated Seatrade Cruise Global Conference.
Esteemed guests from the likes of Atlas Ocean Voyages, Carnival Cruise Line, Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection, Silversea, Royal Caribbean Cruise line, Swan Hellenic, Disney Cruise Line and more, attended the networking and celebrations with cocktail and dinner event held at Smith & Wollensky in Miami. Air/Sea executives are responsible for all air arrangements for passengers and crew and the appreciation dinner was a chance for all participants to share experiences with each other first-hand after almost 18 dormant months in the age of COVID-19.
“The room was full of energy. Everyone has been eager to witness the Cruise Industry bounce back with more ships coming back into service every day and brand new cruise ships just months away from launch. It was fantastic getting to hear everyone in the room’s unique perspectives and how it ultimately relates back to crew and passenger air travel,” said Tim Davey, Founder & Managing Director of Global Marine Travel. “Throughout the pandemic, GMT has remained a resilient, trusted partner to all of our clients. We have certainly been able to showcase our travel management expertise and it has not gone unnoticed.”
Qatar Airways Vice President of Sales for the Americas, Craig Thomas, said, “We are encouraged to see the travel industry rebounding in the wake of the global pandemic. Qatar Airways has remained committed to its passengers throughout the pandemic, emphasizing health and safety at all aspects of the travel experience, which resulted in the airline being named World’s Best Airline in the 2021 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Global Marine Travel has done the same by remaining a trusted partner to all its clients throughout the pandemic. Qatar Airways is proud to have been able to celebrate the reemergence of the cruising industry and looks forward to future collaborations.”
Looking ahead, both the Air & Cruise Industries are continuing to press forward with expanding resumption efforts around the world and in the U.S. while remaining committed to the health and well-being of their guests, crew, and the destinations traveled to. The U.S. move to welcome vaccinated and tested international travelers in early November is good news and will end sweeping bans on most non-citizens from entering the U.S. from the EU, UK, and other nations.
