Greek Shipping Leaders Join the Rebranding Celebration for GMT Greece

It was a night of maritime splendor as the foremost leaders of the Greek shipping industry gathered to celebrate the rebranding of Global Marine Travel Greece (GMT Greece) from Argo Marine Travel, a momentous event that marks a new chapter in the company’s illustrious history.

The event, held on 22 September 2023, at the opulent Four Seasons Astir Palace, saw a distinguished gathering of luminaries from the Greek shipping community, partners Qatar Airways, and international maritime travel experts and colleagues. GMT Greece, a leading player in the global shipping and logistics sector, showcased its commitment to innovation, travel excellence, and continued growth within the marine travel industry.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome by Tim Davey, Founder and Managing Director of GMT and Fotis Pappas, General Manager in Greece, who extended their heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for gracing the occasion. Davey stated, “Shipping companies manage 90% of the global supply chain and it’s a tremendous responsibility despite all the Geopolitics, Pandemics and Economic pressures but together we get the job done.”

He continued, “GMT is proud to take on the responsibility and value our part in the global supply chain. Today we have completed the merger of Argo Marine Travel and Global Marine Travel and will operate going forward under one brand Global Marine Travel Greece. We look forward to supplying the shipping industry with quality marine travel management services in the future.”

Distinguished guest speakers included Qatar Airways’ Sandro Magnetta, Sales Manager – Southern Europe, who applauded GMT by saying, “GMT has consistently demonstrated resilience and adaptability, even in the face of global challenges. Their rebranding signifies their unwavering commitment to support the future of travel and shipping combined.”

The evening continued with delicious catering, cocktails and networking opportunities that allowed industry stakeholders to engage in discussions about the future of Greek shipping and its global impact.

The celebration concluded with an airline ticket raffle which awarded one lucky winner round-trip airline tickets on Qatar Airways including accommodations in Doha.
