“Love is in the air” via seaplane during the Miami Yacht Show
25th February 2020
GMT Global Marine Travel and Yacht Chandlers co-host a luxury seaplane experience with Tropic Ocean Airways from the Fort Lauderdale International Airport to the Miami Seaplane Base for the 2020 Miami Yacht Show.
Esteemed guests consisted of superyacht owners, captains, crew and industry VIPs – taking them on a journey up and over the highway traffic and congested Brightline Train on February 14th to land right next to the superyachts at Island Gardens giving them an exhilarating water landing and take off experience.
After a hassle-free check-in, the flights each way were only about 20 minutes long making it an absolute breeze getting to the show. The views offered some of South Florida’s most picturesque turquoise blue waters, ever-developing coastal skyline and of course an aerial view of all the yachts in the show.
As guests disembarked the seaplane, they were greeted by GMT and Yacht Chandlers colleagues and escorted into the seaplane base for a refreshing beverage and bite to eat, followed by VIP passes into the show courtesy of Informa Markets – the organizers of Superyachts Miami and the Miami Yacht Show.
Many of the guests had never been on a seaplane before, opening their eyes to the possibility of transporting not only yacht crew, but owners, yacht charter guests, and even last-minute provisions or even repair technicians and parts to the yacht wherever it may be in a new and exciting way.
“We hope that this experience opens the door to the extended service capabilities of both GMT and Yacht Chandlers,” says Marketing Manager, Julia Russell. “It’s times like these that we love giving back to our customers and hope that they think of us down the line when they need absolutely anything delivered to their yacht.”
Tropic Ocean Airways has regular scheduled service to several areas of the Bahamas, however, GMT can customize trips to fly practically anywhere in the Caribbean and South Florida with their direct-to-vessel service. Each Cessna aircraft have space for 8 passengers, 2 pilots, and are amphibious – able to land in sea and on land.
